England weather and sad puppies

Well we finally got it. Sunday was Very wet, rainy and windy all day long. It never stopped.
Monday was wet and rainy all day long. It took until around 8 pm before the steam cleared up off of the bathroom mirror after our showers. Today was drizzly... that I can handle.

Anyway yesterday we were able to book the flights for Zena and Jackson to finally come home with us YEAH !!!! Sorry Hailey : ( We are definitely looking forward to having them back with us again. I just can't believe how quiet and lonely a house can be without my babies.

Fireworks !!!

Last night Adam and I went to a celebration for Guy Fawkes Night. They had a little carnival set up along with a fireworks display and a huge bonfire.

When we arrived we saw a 28 foot tall wicker Spartan man standing in front of a slightly larger pile of wood pallets. We just wished that Jeffrey and Mastro could be there to see that fire.
Anyway the fireworks were pretty good ( although not Harborfest quality) and the fire was slow to get started so it was a bit disappointing.

One thing that we did learn-- fireworks are much more fun in July.... it was a bit too cold for my liking.

Anyways forgive the pictures they are from the phone. If you look very closely the picture on the bottom left is the Spartan before the fire, the lights on the right are a truck just to give you an idea of the size. The photo on the right shows the spartan after he was burning for a few minute and his arm fell off.

Hogwarts ... again

Last night Adam and I had dinner with some of the members of his study group. It was so nice to meet the people that get to see my husband all day ; ) Everyone was extremely nice and we had a very yummy dinner too.

Today I took a tour of the Bodleian Library here in Oxford. It was a great tour and I really learned a lot about the history of the University and their traditions. I also got to see more of Hogwarts! I was in the Divinity school where the infirmary scenes were filmed and the actual library where the library scenes were filmed. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take pictures in the Library but I assure it was so amazing and it looked just like to movie except without candles ( which by the way are strictly forbidden in the library)

The Bodleian library has 8 million books in it and many are stored underground which we were able to see... so cool.

Guy Fawkes Night

Today is Guy Fawkes Night, which is celebrated in the UK with bonfires, fireworks, and carnivals.

I am sure that Zena is happy not to be here this week. There have been fireworks in the neighborhood all week and I am sure there are many more to come tonight and throughout the weekend. Adam and I will attend a celebration on Saturday night with some of the other families here.

Jeffrey you would be happy to know that for the last few weeks all of the stores ( department and grocery) have been selling fireworks. So you can pick up your fruit vegetables and fireworks : )

I have yet to have someone actually explain Guy Fawkes Night very well so here is a link if you want info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes_Night

PS Dad, thanks for voting: )

Adam and I mailed our absentee ballot early last week and can't wait to hear the outcome. In fact, I am watching CNN as I type. It will be a very interesting night.

Happy November

Yesterday Adam and I finally made it to London. Adam woke up and for some reason really wanted to go, so we did. The only problem was that he didn't quite read the forecast accurately and it POURED the entire day. He told me it would be mostly cloudy and later told me " It said mostly cloudy so I didn't think that little raindrop
really meant anything" ... silly boy.

Anyway we saw the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and we ate at a YUMMY Vegetarian restaurant. We had the most fabulous dessert too. I can't wait to go back just for that.

Adam thought these pictures were pretty cool and wanted to share.
