Still getting settled

Hello.... Well our travel adventures have slowed but we still seem to be having many other adventures in frustration.

We are still waiting for our bank details to be finalized so that we can get phones and Internet set up. We feel so secluded at home with no tv, phones, or computer.... can you imagine.

Anyways yesterday was Zena's 11th birthday so I was feeling pretty sad about not being home. It sounds like she was spoiled by her grandparents though.

This week I have my first Doctor appointment and I will be sure to fill you in on my NHS experience. Nothing is wrong, I just have to see a doctor before I can have my allergy/asthma prescriptions filled.

Also Adam has his first full day lecture tomorrow and Thursday he gets to go on a boat cruise in London with other students. This will be the official start of being an MBA widow.

We miss you all.

Home sweet home

Well Adam and I finally moved into our apartment last night. It is nice to have a place to sleep two nights in a row.
Also last night we finally met some of the other incoming students. There was a get together for families of Adam's class and we had the chance to meet a lot of interesting people. Today is a boring errand day. We are just taking care of some details in town and then we can actually cook dinner tonight. Believe it or not, I am looking forward to cooking and eating at home.

On an annoying note, there was an error in the set up of our bank accout, so this will delay getting phones and Internet access at home for longer than we had hoped. We will continue to try and stay in touch the best we can until then.

Bath

Hello,
Well this morning we went to Stonehenge. It was pretty neat and Adam wanted me to tell you that our cell phone did work there. I guess that kills the Alien theory. Now we are in Bath.... we have been walking around the cute little town and we are about to go to the bath house. I actually went when I was here before but Adam may like to check it out as well.
Good news.... Tomorrow will be the first time in almost a month that we aren't homeless Yippee !!!!!

Trentham

Today we went to a place called Monkey Forest SOOOOO cool. It is a 60 acre park with 140 Monkeys that roam free around the people. You aren't actually allowed to touch them but they will come very close to you. Funny though they are pretty camera shy. Whenever we tried to get a photo they tended to run away. WOW we had such a great time there. Now we are on the road headed for Oxford.

York, England

Hello .... Since our last post we drove to Scarborough England ( a smaller town on the North East Coast of England) where we went to a Sea Life Sanctuary. They rescue penguins, seals, otters...... It was really interesting and we met an adorable sea turtle that really loves to have her shell scratched. We then had an enormous detour and eventually drove to York. When we arrived the town was pretty much closed ( 6 pm on a Sunday) so we just walked around for a few hours. Today we stayed here and saw more of the town including the National Train Museum and a beautiful church. Adam also found a naughty book he wanted to buy Jeffrey but I think I swayed him from it. So we will stay in York again tonight and make our way south in the direction of the new apartment tomorrow and see what we can see along the way.
We are thinking of you all.....

Inverness

Hello.... well last night we spent the night in a very small town called Glencoe and we are now in Inverness near Loch Ness.... no Nessie sightings. It is so interesting to see the contrast from city to city but so far Scotland has not disappointed. The countryside is so pretty that it is hard to describe. Once we get our computers set up we will finally provide some photos.
This morning we went to a small petting zoo and then took a Dolphin cruise. We were quite disappointed as there weren't actually any Dolphins : (

We hope that you are all well.

Heading to the Highlands

Good Morning.... We are still in Glasgow and we are heading to the Highlands this afternoon.

A few random notes:

Adam wanted me to clarify that yesterdays robbery was not dangerous. It appeared that alcohol was consumed and the owner of a stolen box of tissues was in dispute. The robbery consisted of a lot of yelling and Adam did try to help the woman .

So far there has been a lot on the news about Lehman Brothers and the impact it has had worldwide. Apparently in this country alone there will be 500,000 lost jobs by the end of the year. Also there appears to be a general and obvious dislike for the Prime Minister here...... we have seen heard several news shows where the newscasters openly bash him.

Glasgow

Today we arrived in Glasgow and we have been wandering in the city centre. We literally just witnessed a robbery in the Internet cafe......... yikes !
Anyways so far our trip has been pleasantly uneventful and the countryside is beautiful. We are thinking of you all.

Scotland

Hello...
Well we saw our new apartment on Monday, and all was well.
We will be moving in on the 25th. Until then we have rented a car and we are travelling in the UK. Adam is becoming pretty good at driving on the opposite side of the road. I however have not yet tried. We are currently in Edinburgh, Scotland. We promise more frequent updates when our Internet access becomes a little more regular.
We miss you all.

We are here

Well we have finally arrived. Our flight was OK except for that fact that they didn't have Vegan meals for us so we were starving when we finally landed.

Once we arrived we picked up our rental car and drove to Oxford City Centre and walked around for a while until we could check into the hotel. What a great city, it is somewhat busy and there is a lot of shopping but it has that cozy European feel while not being overcrowded (although that might change when all the students arrive).

Tomorrow we get to see our Apartment.

So now we have to begin thinking about what to do until the 25th when we move in. Any travel ideas???

Photo: We found a "neighborhood" of boats in the Oxford City Centre... we thought Dad might like this photo.
