Another day

Hello,

Well it has been a slow week here.
Adam has been super busy with classes. He gets home, has dinner, does homework and goes to bed. I feel bad for him but we knew this is how it would be and he seems to be taking it really well.

I have been continuing my job search, exploring the local town and meeting up with some of the other spouses.

Side Note:
This week we were able to get groceries delivered ! This is actually quite exciting since we don't have a car and carrying a large amount of groceries on the bus can be quite difficult. Many of the local grocers have a website where you can shop and then they will bring it right to your door.

Matriculation Day

Good Morning.
Today Adam officially becomes a student at the University of Oxford!! Even though he already started classes they have a formal matriculation ceremony where he becomes a student at the college. Unfortunately for him the whole ceremony is in Latin.....

In case you were wondering this outfit is called a Sub Fusc. Adam will wear it for Matriculation, when he sits for tests and then finally at graduation.

Today we are wishing all of the Spinelli's a Sunny Fall day for the Piper's Pumpkin Party ! We wish we were there. HAVE FUN !!!!

Home Sweet Home... with photos

TGIF ! That means that I actually get to see Adam for a few days. That is if he can manage to squeeze me in between his homework.
Enjoy a few photos of our Oxford home for those of you who are interested.

Internet at last

First of all I am sorry for such a long gap in entries. Adam and I just got Internet in our house about 10 minutes ago. Believe it or not that is a photo of me actually using the Internet in our house. This is a very big moment.

So since our last entry Adam has officially started classes. He has been to 4 out of 6 classes so far and has been very pleasantly surprised with the teachers. He has had a fair amount of homework but nothing too crazy yet. Adam has been to a few recruitment seminars as well. Hopefully it all pays off in a good job in the end.

So I am still unemployed but I am hopeful that having the Internet at home will be very helpful on that front.

This weekend we had really great weather here and we found a gorgeous park with about 80 cows walking freely and at least 5 horses. It was so amazing and we loved it. Unfortunately we didn't have our camera that day : ) Here are a few phone photos.

The next day we did have our camera and finally went to see the "Great Hall" from the Harry Potter movie but unfortunately they were closed all day. (Karen we will get you those Flat Stanley photos soon.)

Today I met with some of the other spouses and had a nice lunch at Jamie Oliver's restaurant. Unfortunately he didn't grace us with his presence.

Well we hope that you are all well and we promise more frequent updates now that the Internet is sorted out.

Side note.... please check out my cousin Ryan Hamlin he has music newly added to I-tunes. Go Ryan

A slow news day

Well there was in fact a magician, he seemed to so a very nice job amusing the kids. Oxford seems to be very understanding of the number of families and children that are here which is nice.

Yesterday Adam completed the Oxford Pursuit which was a scavenger hunt throughout the city. He seemed to enjoy it and he said his team mates were very good. During that time I had a nice lunch with several other MBA widows.

Today Adam is attending orientation and I am trying to find a job which is difficult with no National Insurance Number, no printed resumes, and no Internet access. Well wish me luck as I continue my task.

Hello

Hi There... Since our last post we have just been continuing to get settled.
We finally have phones set up. For those of you with SKYPE you can Skype us and it will ring to our cell phones so you should be able to get us at most times.

Adam has been attending some mini classes this week and continuing to meet the many new faces. There are about 220 students in his class. He also had the "opportunity" to go on his alumni boat cruise in London. He was a little disappointed as there weren't actually many alumni there but hey he was in London so how can you complain right....

So NHS, I know you have all been waiting. I had an appointment at 10:30, I arrived at 10:05 ( life relying on the bus schedule results in a lot of dead time) and was sent to the waiting room. At 10:15 the doctor came to take me in, I told him I was early and he actually said " I know but he is still filling out paperwork so I will meet with you. I am just trying to use time efficiently" can you believe he said efficient ... in a doctors office. So I told him I was there for prescriptions he spoke to me for a few mines gave me my prescriptions and I left at 10:25. Not bad considering my appointment was at 10:30. I then went to the pharmacy and left with my prescription five minutes later. So far no complaints on my side.

Today we are going to a family event at the business school. I even heard a rumor that there will be a magician.
